[cdh-user] CDH 5.2.0 HiveServer2 issue

We upgraded our test cluster to CDH 5.2.0 but when we run hiveserver2, it connects but beeline always just shows default database with no tables.

Same is for HUE too.

I added hive.server2.authentification as NOSASL but no change.

Hive works perfectly fine but HUE is having issues due to this.

Anybody else face this issue ?



Did you check to which metastore DB the hive-site.xml is pointing to?



That also seems fine as hive works without any issue.



Do you have security enabled. Do you use sentry?.



No, we don't use sentry.

Does it need a metastore service running ?

Our hive-site's property -  javax.jdo.option.ConnectionURL points to jdbc:mysql://<host>/metastore.

It used to work in CDH4 OOTB. Not sure what's changed in CDH 5.2.0 that it does not see all databases and tables in metastore as via hive shell.

HiveServer2 is probably pointing to another metastore. Do you use CM? If yes it should show its real hive-site.xml and to which remote DB HS2 is pointing to
