[impala-user] cancel long running query from jdbc

We are trying to find a way to cancel running query that was executed via JDBC.

We tried to call cancel on the statement and also closing the statement and connection  object and  we still see the query running in the CM.

We are using impala jdbc driver (com.cloudera.impala.jdbc4.Driver) with cdh 5.2.

Any idea how it can be done
