It is sad that ObjectLayout is not even acknowledged in the response to a question on the subject. The stance that language changes are needed to address layout is very limiting.

Indeed… sad… you know in 2005 I wrote an editorial in which I railed against auto-boxing as being the wrong solution to the well known problems… of course that was wrapped up in Generics and unfortunately, personality. I fear in this correction of mistakes made back then… history is repeating it’s self..
